FAITH - “Do not be afraid. Just have faith.” Mark 5:36

The Bible shows us through actual historical events that God wants to have a
personal relationship with all people, including you and me. But how can we
relate to a God we cannot see or hear a God who reveals himself beyond the
audible. This is where trust becomes essential, and something called Faith is
required.

Faith is the foundational virtue in Christianity, which establishes the believer’s
relationship with God. Faith involves embracing the truth we receive from the
inspired Word of God and in Jesus Christ for salvation. Faith empowers believers
to trust in the unseen realities of God’s work, like the formation and divine order
of the universe. According to Hebrews 11:3 (TPT) “Faith empowers us to see that
the universe was created and beautifully coordinated by the power of God’s
words! He spoke and the invisible realm gave birth to all that is seen.”

Faith is a divine gift, given through the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is best expressed not just in belief, but in a life that reflects God’s character and advances His kingdom. This is not easy—but God has already equipped us. “Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by His divine power.” (2 Peter 1:3)
Jesus is the author, the creator, and the finisher of our faith, the beginning, and the end. Like bookends, he is the one that plants the seed in us, he is the one that nurtures it, and he is the one that finishes and perfects it. Hebrews 12:2 (TPT) says, “We look away from the natural realm and we focus our attention and expectation onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection.”
This makes it clear that faith does not originate with man. Our natural decision-making abilities bring us to believe in Christ for our salvation. But once we are in Christ, by the work of His supernatural grace we are perfected and able to experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to believers through faith. Our faith guides us beyond natural understanding and reason; it is loving, knowing, and following the One who is leading, Jesus Christ, while never knowing where you are being led.

Faith is not merely intellectual belief based in our minds, but it is genuinely believing in our hearts the written promises of God. According to Romans 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Hearing the Word refers to reading, listening, and meditating on the Bible and the teachings of Christ to nurture our faith. Hebrews 11: 1 defines faith as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Faith is our title deed—proof that what God has promised is already ours in Christ. “For all the promises of God in Him are
Yes, and in Him Amen.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)
Faith is also a command. Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” It is not optional, it is essential. God expects us to respond to Him in faith, trusting His character and His promises even when we do not understand
the path ahead. We are called to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is a weapon in the believer’s arsenal. It moves mountains, breaks strongholds, and triumphs over the world. Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20) That means even the smallest seed of faith, when rooted in God’s power, can produce miraculous outcomes. But faith must be cultivated—it grows through obedience, perseverance, and intimacy with Christ.
Another key principle is the power of spoken faith. Faith is not silent—it speaks, declares, and decrees the promises of God. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” Our words carry spiritual weight. They can build or destroy, heal, or harm, release blessing or stir up destruction. James 3:2 adds, “If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man.” The mouth is the
cockpit of the body—it steers our direction and shapes our destiny. When we speak the Word of God with conviction, we activate heaven’s authority in our lives. Our tongue becomes our most powerful weapon in the kingdom of light and darkness. Spoken faith aligns our hearts with God’s will and releases His power into our circumstances.

Genuine faith involves abandoning all human reliance on self-effort and placing total dependence on God’s character, His actions, and His promises as revealed in His Word. It is not just believing that God exists—it is trusting that He is good, that He is near, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Even when surrounded by life’s difficulties, faith anchors us in the goodness of God. It is the lifeline that holds us steady, the lens that helps us see beyond nature, and the force that propels us forward in the climb toward Christlikeness.

James teaches that faith is not passive. It must be expressed through action: “What good is it if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?” (James 2:14) “Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:26 TPT)

Christian faith is a deliberate, wholehearted commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord, and King. It means placing unwavering confidence in His power to guide us through every circumstance. Faith calls us to step boldly into the unknown, obeying His voice even when the path is unclear.

As Mary said at the wedding in Cana: “Whatever He says to you, do it.” (John 2:5)

We only have one lifetime to live by faith. And I choose to live mine strong, courageous, and unshakable.

Final Reflection Faith is the foundation of everything. It is the doorway to salvation, the fuel for obedience, and the anchor in every storm. Without faith, we cannot please God—but with it, we can move mountains. Faith is not a feeling; it is a decision to trust the unseen, to believe the promises of God even when circumstances say otherwise. It is the courage to step forward when the path is unclear, and the strength to stand firm when everything around us shakes. Faith is how we begin the climb—and it is how we keep climbing. So let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and walk boldly in the confidence that He who began a good work in us will carry it to completion.

Prayer of Response Father, thank You for the gift of faith. Thank You for calling us to trust You—not just with our eternity, but with every step of our journey. Strengthen our hearts to believe when we cannot see, to obey when we do not understand, and to stand firm when we feel weak. Jesus, You are the author and finisher of our faith. Help us to keep our eyes on You. May our lives be marked by bold trust, unwavering hope, and deep dependence on Your Word. We choose to live by faith—strong, courageous, and unshakable. In Your name Jesus we pray,
Amen.
